Hendricks County– In celebration of 20 years of service to Hendricks County, the Hendricks County Community Foundation is presenting $1,000 grants to County nonprofits every 20 days in 2016. These 20th Anniversary Board Engagement Grants allow each member of the HCCF Board of Directors to designate a Hendricks County nonprofit that is important to them and to Hendricks County.
The fifth HCCF 20th Anniversary Grant was presented to the Meals on Wheels of Hendricks County on behalf of Board member Gary Pohl. Gary chose Meals on Wheels of Hendricks County because he has had family and friends who have benefited from the program. He has seen firsthand the impact this program has made and is passionate about the work of this organization, “Meals on Wheels is a wonderful organization that allows aging individuals to remain in their homes as long as possible.”
Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit community service. This program assists people in improving the quality of their lives and in maintaining their dignity and independence within the security of their own homes.
Sue Cox, Meals on Wheels Program Director, was excited to be a recipient of a special initiative grant from HCCF. “This money will help with the operating of our program for Hendricks County residents,” said Cox. She continued, “HCCF has been a great supporter through the years. Without generous grants like this one we would have difficulty continuing a lot of our extra programs for our clients; for example: offering shelf stable meals for our clients use when we are unable to deliver meals due to inclement weather.”
The HCCF 20th Anniversary Grants are a celebration of the Community Foundation’s 20 years of work and partnerships made possible by generous donors and supporters. “This 20th Anniversary grant presented by Gary Pohl is an inspiring example of the passion of our Board members and the work they are doing in our community. It was great to see the passion that Gary and his wife Tonya have for the mission and work of Meals on Wheels. That’s really at the core of what our mission at HCCF: partnering with generous people to realize their charitable goals while addressing community needs in meaningful and lasting ways. That’s what the Community Foundation has done for 20 years and we look to continue for years to come,” said William Rhodehamel, HCCF Executive Director.
