INDIANAPOLIS – A 20-year-old suspect is arrested minutes after he allegedly robs a Family Dollar armed with a handgun.
At around 10:00 AM, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were sent to the 3700 blk. of E. 25th St. reference an armed robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they were told that the suspect had entered the store confronted a worker and demanded an undisclosed amount of money. A store worker observed and believed that the suspect was armed with a handgun. Responding officers were provided a very detailed suspect description that led to the eventual capture of the suspect. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Melik Robinson of Indianapolis, was taken into custody without further incident.
Detectives later served a search warrant at the residence the suspect has been staying at and recovered evidence from the robbery. The suspect was arrested on a preliminary charge of Robbery. The suspect was transported to the Arrestee Processing Center where he will be processed. No store employees were injured as a result of the alleged suspect’s actions.
