On January 7th, 2017, at approximately 8:39 AM, Brownsburg Police responded to a 911 call for a person shot at 849 Stonehenge Way, Brownsburg, Indiana. When police arrived, they spoke with a daughter of the elderly couple that reside at that residence, who have been identified as Kerney and Alice Wright, both 74 years of age. The daughter advised Officers that she entered the residence to discover that her father had fallen out of his wheelchair and was on the floor. She then discovered her mother, Alice, in a separate room and believed that Alice was deceased from what was a suspected gunshot wound. Mr. Wright was transported to Hendricks Regional Hospital for a check out and health issues that were unrelated to this incident.
Detectives interviewed witnesses on scene, canvassed the neighborhood, and served a search warrant at the residence and have now processed the scene. There are no signs of forced entry to the residence, and it does not appear at this time that there is anything missing from the home. Based on witness interviews and evidence at the scene it is believed that Mrs. Wright had potentially been deceased for at least 12 hours or more. However, an estimated time of death, cause, and manner of death will be determined by the Pathologist at the autopsy that is scheduled for later this afternoon today.
Detectives continue to interview witnesses, potential witnesses, and collect relevant evidence. This case is being treated as a death investigation, but protocols for Homicide are being followed as this is best practice for the identification, documentation, collection and preservation of evidence that could be needed for a criminal case.
