IMPD homicide detectives continue to investigate the fatal shooting of man on the city’s east side

IMPDINDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), homicide detectives, continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a man on the city’s east side.

On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of North LaSalle Street reference a possible person shot. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male, later identified as 34-year-old Simon Wills of Indianapolis, lying on the sidewalk suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Detectives canvassed the area for potential information and evidence. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency processed the crime scene for forensic evidence. Detectives have not yet made any suspect information available. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
