Brown Elementary is a 2026 Blue Ribbon School

Brown Elementary is one of the 16 Indiana schools selected as a 2026 Blue Ribbon School.  This recognition of academic achievement is the result of the tremendous hard work of Brown Elementary teachers and staff and an unwavering commitment to student success. “With more than 2,300 K-12 schools across Indiana, to be named one of the top 16 is an incredible accomplishment,” said Dr. Katie Jenner, Indiana Secretary of Education. “This level of excellence is only possible when strong educators work hand-in-hand with families to meet the unique needs of every learner.”

This is the second time Brown Elementary has been honored as a Blue Ribbon School. The first time was in 2016. Brownsburg Schools also celebrated Blue Ribbon Schools in 2022 (Eagle Elementary), 2019 (West Middle School), 2018 (Reagan Elementary), 2017 (White Lick Elementary), and 2001-2002 (Brownsburg Junior High).

Blue Ribbon Schools were formally recognized at the fifth annual Educational Excellence Awards gala (pictured below), which took place in Indianapolis on Friday, October 2. The National Blue Ribbon Schools designation was first established in 1982 and transferred to the states in 2025. The U.S. Department of Education has encouraged states to continue to celebrate the achievements of their local schools and the positive impact they make on the lives of students. The Indiana Department of Education annually names a new cohort of designees.
