Indianapolis, IN – Indiana State Police Detectives are investigating an incident that began with the pursuit of a U-Haul truck occupied by two men. The pursuit was initiated by Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. State Police Dispatchers were notified of the pursuit at 6:48 p.m. when it was southbound on I-465 near Washington Street on the west side of Indianapolis. The suspect vehicle exited at Kentucky Avenue and went south toward Camby. Officers from the Plainfield Police Department joined the pursuit when it entered Hendricks County. The suspect led officers back toward Indianapolis and eventually onto I-70 eastbound. As the U-Haul approached Holt Road the driver drove off the road, down an embankment toward Holt Road. The U-Haul came to a stop and two males fled on foot. One of the males was apprehended a short time later by officers.
The second male suspect allegedly stole a white box truck from a business in the area, drove through a closed gate toward the area where officers were apprehending the first suspect. A Plainfield Police Officer discharged his firearm in the direction of the suspect who was driving the white box truck. The suspect continued to drive away from the scene, officers in the area pursued the white box truck. That pursuit led officers to the area of Kentucky Avenue and Harding Street where the suspect crashed the white box truck. The male suspect fled on foot and was apprehended by an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police K9.
When the second suspect was apprehended at Kentucky and Harding it was discovered he possibly had an injury consistent with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The first suspect apprehended near Holt Road and Morris Street was identified as 31 year old Zachary White of Indianapolis.
The second suspect apprehended was identified as 38 year old Michael Mynatt of Indianapolis.
The Indiana State Police is leading the investigation for this incident. All crimes mentioned in this release are alleged and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident.
