Vigo County—Last night at approximately 10:24, Indiana State Police Trooper James Crisp stopped a teal 2003 Hyundai passenger car for improper headlights on southbound US 41 (3rd St) near Cherry Street. Immediately noticing enhanced nervousness and other information associated with the occupants, Trooper Crisp requested K-9 assistance from ISP Trooper Ian Portteus and “Czar”. A positive alert was indicated by “Czar” and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a few grams of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, multiple syringes, controlled substance pills, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The driver, Stephani C. Presnell, age 45, of Terre Haute, IN. was taken into custody and incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Syringe, Unlawful Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia, all filed by Trooper Crisp.
Additional assisting units were Troopers Courtland Woodruff, Kyle Hall, Erik Smith, and Ty Lightle.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
