Vermillion County 911 Call Prompts Police Dispatch that Results in One Arrest

ISP SmallVermillion County—This afternoon at 2:25, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office dispatched an erratic driver northbound on State Road 63 near County Road 250 South. The suspect vehicle was reported as a Silver Dodge Dakota.

Trooper Ted Robertson located the vehicle northbound on SR 63 near 250 South and witnessed the vehicle left of center, traveling 75 miles-per-hour in a 60mph zone, and operating off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle was generally erratic.

A traffic stop found the driver in possession of less than two grams of suspected Marijuana and suspected paraphernalia. He also appeared to have signs of possible intoxication, but refused a chemical test. Driver was incarcerated in the Vermillion County Jail.

Arrested:         Darrick Shields, age 33, of Universal, IN.

Charges:          Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Driving Under the Influence (Refusal).

Assisting were ISP Troopers Ty Lightle and Mike Laney.
