Vehicle Pursuit Led to SWAT Situation and Subsequent Arrest

Indianapolis, IN – Tuesday afternoon an Indiana State Trooper attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Trailblazer for a traffic violation at Legrande Avenue and Dawson Street in Indianapolis. The driver of that vehicle sped away and led officers on a pursuit that concluded when the suspect vehicle crashed into a fence near the 800 block of South Oakland Street, the driver then ran from the scene on foot. There where two other occupants in the vehicle that did not flee on foot and were taken into custody. While in foot pursuit of the driver, officers lost sight of him between houses. A short time later officers received information the suspect had entered a house in the 800 block of South Oakland Street. Indiana State Police SWAT was called to assist and a perimeter was set around the house. Officers were able to get innocent bystanders out of the house before a subsequent search revealed the suspect had allegedly ran out the back door before the police perimeter was set. 

Officers were later able to locate the suspect at his residence where he was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. He was identified as 19 year old Victor White of Indianapolis. 

During the pursuit a handgun and counterfeit U.S. Currency was allegedly thrown from the vehicle. Those items were recovered by police and the handgun was found to be stolen. The two passengers in the Trailblazer where also arrested, 18 year old Alexis Hernandez and a 16 year old Juvenile. The passengers were allegedly throwing the money out of the vehicle and the handgun was thrown by a passenger. 

The two adults were taken to the Marion County Jail and the juvenile was turned over to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. This investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time. There were no injuries reported during this incident. 

All criminal actions mentioned above are alleged, all suspects are considered innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. Troopers will present their investigation to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office who will determine actual charges.
