Town of Brownsburg Seeks Applicants for Boards and Commissions

Brownsburg — The Town of Brownsburg is seeking applications from residents who are interested in serving on the municipality’s boards and commissions. Seats are open for terms beginning January 2020 on the Town’s Board of Zoning Appeals, Redevelopment Authority, Redevelopment Commission, and Park Board. Appointments will also be made to the Brownsburg Improvement Committee and the Park Impact Fee Board.

Under Indiana Law, the Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for granting developmental standards, use and special exceptions/conditional use variances. The BZA appointment is a 4-year term. 

The Redevelopment Commission assists with planning and development for businesses in the corporate limits and promotes land use that is in the best interest of the Town. The Redevelopment Authority is a three member board responsible for financing, constructing and leasing local public improvements to the RDC. The RDC seats are 1-year appointments. The RDA appointment is a 3-year term.

The Brownsburg Park Board oversees the objectives and policies for effective operation of parks facilities and administration of recreation programs. Park Board appointments are 4-year terms. 

The Brownsburg Improvement Committee administers grants and loans from the RDC to promote the preservation of Brownsburg’s downtown and to improve its physical appearance and economic development.  The Improvement Committee seat is a 1-year appointment.

The Park Impact Fee Board hears appeals from developers and builders relative to impact fees assessed to their proposed development. Appointments are 2-year terms.

Town of Brownsburg boards and commissions meetings are held regularly at Town Hall, 61 N. Green Street, and are open to the public. Live video of the meetings is streamed on the internet and archived on the Town’s website.
