Tech-Based Fleet Management Company Doubling Footprint, Jobs in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (March 1, 2018) – Earthwave Technologies, a provider of telematics solutions for heavy equipment contractors, announced plans today to expand its operations in Indianapolis, creating up to 56 new jobs by 2022.

“Hoosier businesses continue to be at the forefront of creating 21st century solutions for companies around the world,” said Elaine Bedel, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). “We are witnessing repeated stories of success from Indiana entrepreneurs that are taking advantage of our talented workforce and pro-growth business environment. We’re excited Earthwave continues to thrive here, and we’ll do our part to support their growth by ensuring that businesses of all sizes have the tools they need to succeed.

The company, which provides wireless fleet management systems for construction contractors and heavy equipment owners, will invest $1.2 million to double its footprint at its current 8,000-square-foot headquarters, expanding into additional office space at 8727 Commerce Park Place in Indianapolis. Earthwave Technologies, which began construction in December, is currently updating its information technology infrastructure for its sales, development, delivery and support operations to accommodate the growth of its customer base.

Earthwave Technologies currently employs 33 full-time associates in Indiana and has already started hiring for sales, hardware, software developer and customer service positions. Interested applicants may apply online.

“We’re enthusiastic about continuing to grow Earthwave Technologies in Indiana,” said Jim Hutchins, chief operating officer for Earthwave Technologies. “As we grow, we’ll continue to invest in our products like Fleetwatcher to ensure our customers have the tools they need to operate efficiently. We’re also proud of our team at Earthwave Technologies, and we’re confident that the workforce in Indiana will continue to supply hardworking, industrious people as we expand our team.”

Founded in 2000, Earthwave’s wireless fleet management product, Fleetwatcher, enables users to make better decisions regarding fleet utilization and productivity, helping heavy equipment and paving contractors manage their equipment, projects, costs and bottom line. The company’s solution offers its customers with real-time access to telematics data from any location, streamlining the construction management process.

The IEDC offered Fleetwatcher (dba Earthwave Technologies) up to $595,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis supports the project in partnership with Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.

“As Earthwave Technologies continues to equip businesses with the tools to efficiently manage their resources, we’re excited that their success has led to further investment and expansion in Indianapolis,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “Time and time again, our city has proven itself a hotbed for innovation, and Earthwave Technologies’ success shows that the solutions of tomorrow are being created in Indianapolis.”

Indiana is home to nearly 500,000 small businesses that employ 1.2 million Hoosiers. The state has an A+ rating for small business friendliness (Thumbtack 2017) and ranks top 10 in the nation on the small business policy index (SBE Council 2018). Hosted by the IEDC, the Indiana Small Business Development Center provides entrepreneurs with expert guidance and resources on how to start and grow a business, including: strategy development, business planning and valuation, export assistance and market research.
