INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives announce arrest of murder suspect.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on 08/18/2018, officers with the IMPD were dispatched on a disturbance which was later updated to a person shot. Responding officers arrived on-scene but did not immediately locate a victim. Officers located a male victim, later identified as Pedro Membreno-Tinoco (31) suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, inside the vehicle near 16th and Indiana Ave. It is believed that the witnesses were attempting to take the victim to the hospital from the incident on 34th St, before he had died.
Homicide detectives responded and immediately began gathering witness statements. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.
During the course of their investigation, Homicide detectives identified a suspect. Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Narking Altamirano (30). Altamirano was located in Mexico City and immediately taken into custody on the murder warrant on 12/07/2018 by the Mexican Authorities. He is currently being extradited back to Indianapolis.
This was another collaborative effort involving the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit, U.S. Marshals, FBI, and Mexican authorities, which resulted in the arrest of a murder suspect. The IMPD would like to thank the FBI and Mexican Authorities for their assistance in the apprehension of Altamirano.
