Secretary Lawson “Registers” ICAN Service Dogs on National Voter Registration Day

INDIANAPOLIS (September 27, 2016) — This election is going to the dogs. Canine candidates arrived at Secretary Lawson’s office Tuesday to register to vote for the Indiana Canine Assistance Network “ICAN” election and to shake paws on this National Voter Registration Day. ICAN is holding a special election to choose Indiana’s favorite pup with voters choosing between canine candidates Hunter, Desiree and Truman. Today, the candidates turned in their voter registrations forms for the ICAN election to Secretary Lawson. Today, is also National Voter Registration Day. All Hoosiers are encouraged to register to vote in the upcoming general election.

The Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) is holding a special election to choose Indiana’s favorite pup, giving voters the choice between the Goldador Party, Labradarian Party and Golden Party. The ICAN dog election will be held the same day as the General Election, November 8th. Hoosiers can vote through a donation at ICANdogs.org.

“We hope the ‘pawsitive’ impact of this ICAN election will bring attention to the work ICAN does every day and help someone in need get a service dog,” Secretary Lawson said. “I encourage all Hoosiers to get online and vote for their top dog and to register to vote and vote in the upcoming General Election.”

Hoosiers can register to vote in the upcoming General Election at Indianavoters.com, using the Indiana Voters app or at their county clerk’s office. The last day to register to vote for the General Election is October 11th. Early voting begins October 12th.
