Rollover Semi Closes I-65 in Tippecanoe County

ISP Small-Today just before 8:00 a.m. the Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post were advised of a semi rollover on I-65 northbound near the 175 MM (that is at the SR 25/175 exit) on the overpass to SR 25.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jeremy Piers has revealed that a white 2012 Freightliner box truck owned by Ryder Truck Rental out of Gary, IN was leased to Klosterman Transportation Services out of Cincinnati, OH. and was driven by Brian Campbell, 44 of Indianapolis was northbound on the interstate. For an unknown reason, the truck went off the right side of the roadway, the driver over corrected and the truck rolled over onto its side blocking both lanes of traffic.

The driver was unable to exit the cab and the Lafayette Fire Department removed the front widow so the driver was able to exit the vehicle. Campbell was transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette with non-life threatening injuries. The interstate was shut down for about one hour for investigation of the crash, removal of injured driver and up righting of the truck.

An inspection of the Freightliner was performed by Master Troopers Larry Mote Jr. and Rob Hawkins from the ISP Motor Carrier Division. Seatbelt was in use at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene was Trooper Colton Maynor, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department, Walsh Construction Company, Lafayette Fire Department and Tippecanoe County EMS. No citations have been issued at this time.
