Rokita: Veterans Come First

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Rokita released this statement after President Trump signed the VA Mission Act of 2018:

“In America, our veterans must come first. It is unacceptable how many burdens have been placed on our veterans because of the failed VA bureaucracy,” said Congressman Rokita. “We have a responsibility to provide the best care to those who have given so much for our freedom. Now, our veterans will have more choice and quality access to the care that they deserve and have earned.”

Congressman Rokita is a strong advocate for veterans and has supported the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 (S.1094) along with cosponsoring similar bills such as the Veterans Crisis Line Study Act of 2017 (H.R.4173) and the VA Accountability First Act of 2017 (H.R.1259).

About the Bill:

  • Provides $5.2 billion in urgently needed funds, without creating new spending, in order to prevent interruption of veterans currently using the Choice Program.
  • Streamlines the VA community care programs into one cohesive program.
  • Ensures that our veterans get the timely and effective care they deserve.
  • Modernize VA health care by making investments in VA assets.
