DANVILLE, IN–Congressman Todd Rokita hosted the Second Annual Women’s
Summit last Friday in Danville. “Today brought together leaders from
communities across Indiana’s Fourth District to talk about taking action
in our communities. Our discussions included: the opioid epidemic and
how it is affecting our communities, human trafficking and the extensive
damages this horrible crime inflicts, personal safety, and how every
individual in Indiana can help create change,” said Congressman Todd
Rokita. “Last year was our first summit and we received a tremendous
amount of positive feedback. And because of the positive impact last
year’s event had, we wanted to come together again to continue
discussions about important issues facing Indiana today.”
More than 100 individuals attended the event hosted by Rokita. Speakers
included: Michelle Sybesma, Kristi Dungan, Dr. Krista Brucker, Christian
Ellis-Frederik, and Taya Fernandez who all spoke about the opioid
epidemic. Karen Maher, Kate Zimmer, and Jessica Evans all spoke about
human trafficking. Indiana State Trooper Tami Watson spoke about safety
and awareness and Jeff Ready spoke about cyber security.
