Public Sharps Disposal Program Opens at Health Department

HENDRICKS COUNTY, IN – The Hendricks County Health Department and the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District are hosting a kick-off event for their Safe Sharps Disposal Program on Monday, February 1 at 3:00 P.M. in the Health Department’s Nursing Clinic located in the Hendricks County Government Center, 355 S. Washington St. Danville.

The Health Department and Solid Waste Management District are partnering on the Safe Sharps Disposal Program in an effort to safely collect used sharps and prevent the spread of communicable diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis C, due to needle sticks.

Beginning February 2, Hendricks County residents can come to the Health Department Nursing Clinic between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, to pick up a free sharps container for their personal use. Full sharps containers can then be returned to the Health Department for disposal at no charge.

For more information about the Safe Sharps Disposal Program, contact the Hendricks County Health Department Nursing Division at (317) 745-9222.
