Plainfield Police to Lead Investigation of Crash that Resulted in the Death of a Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy

PLAINFIELD- At the request of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department, the Plainfield Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash that resulted in the line of duty death of Deputy Fred Fislar.

Overnight on April 15, 2024, at around 11:50 P.M., the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Avon Avenue, North of Township Line Road, for a personal injury crash. A passenger car, with only the driver inside, struck a utility pole resulting in downed power lines. Plainfield Police crash investigators were promptly called to the scene to conduct a detailed reconstruction. The driver was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition. The investigation into the driver’s suspected impairment is ongoing.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Deputy Fislar’s family and all members of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department.
