Plainfield – On 04/15/2024 at approximately 11:49pm Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the 2600 block of South State Road 267 just north of Plainfield. At that location, a 2009 silver Honda passenger car struck a utility pole and shattered the pole leaving electrical wires hanging low near the crash scene.
Deputy Fred Fislar arrived on scene at 11:57pm. Approximately 3 minutes later, a passerby used Deputy Fislar’s radio to contact the Hendricks County Communications Center and advised them that an officer was down. Deputy Fislar was transported to Eskenazi hospital in critical condition after he sustained injuries from apparently coming into contact with the low hanging power line. Despite all available life saving measures, Deputy Fred Fislar was pronounced deceased at 12:59am.
Deputy Fred Fislar was hired with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office in December of 2021. He served in the Enforcement Division for approximately two and a half years. He was a part of the 226th Basic Class of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and further served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
