Town of Danville to Celebrate County Bicentennial with First Concert of the Season

DANVILLE, IN (April 17, 2024) – The Danville Chamber of Commerce, Danville Parks & Recreation and Downtown Danville Partnership will present Evenings in Danville, a free, concert series with a salute to the Bicentennial in 2024.

The event was recently approved by the Hendricks County Bicentennial Committee, along with two other events and projects.

They’ll kick off the series on May 31 at the Danville Square, celebrating the Hendricks County Bicentennial with a group rendition of “Happy Birthday”, photo ops and cupcakes before the evening performance from More Than A Feeling, a Boston and American Foreigner Tribute.

Other Bicentennial events and projects that received endorsement during the April cycle included:

Plainfield Public Library – The Indiana Room at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library will collect memories online from Hendricks County residents and use them to create a printed book, forming the Hendricks County Bicentennial Memories Collection. Copies will be available in the circulating collection as well as other county libraries.

Beasley’s Orchard – Beasley’s will celebrate the Bicentennial in their annual corn maze. The corn maze design is selected each year and serves as the overarching theme of their seven fall festival weekends. Look for a Bicentennial themed corn maze this fall.

The community can begin planning Bicentennial events or projects now. The committee is looking for ideas that are open and accessible to the public, create a legacy for the future, engage and inspire youth, are educational and tied to the celebration of the Bicentennial.

When you submit your idea to the Bicentennial Committee for official endorsement, upon approval, applicants will have the use of all Bicentennial logos, a listing on the Bicentennial website and additional support by reaching the community through a press release sent to local media and other promotions.

Submit your project or event for endorsement on the Bicentennial website at Hendricks200.com.

The Bicentennial Steering Committee exists to support and encourage the Hendricks County community in their efforts to celebrate our community’s past, present and future. For more information, visit Hendricks200.com or email Hendricks200th@gmail.com.
