Pedestrian Struck and Killed on I-65 in Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN – Just after midnight Saturday morning, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a serious crash on I-65 southbound near Southport Road. 911 Callers reported a pedestrian was struck and the victim was unresponsive. When first responders arrived they located an adult female in a grassy area along the side of I-65. Despite life saving efforts, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and was uninjured. 

Investigators believe the female was walking or possibly even running in the left lane of I-65 when she was struck. Positive identification of the deceased has not yet been made however there was an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder very close to the crash scene. Troopers are working with the Marion County Coroner’s Office to identify the victim and notify the family.
