INDIANAPOLIS (May 31, 2018) – Construction crews are preparing along Shelby Street to begin construction on the Red Line starting Monday, June 4.
Construction will begin with roadway and sidewalk improvements along Shelby, and drivers will notice advance construction signage and some traffic pattern adjustments beginning as early as today, May 31.
No lane restrictions are anticipated, but some lane shifts will occur along Shelby Street at Campus Drive North, Southern Avenue, and Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive. Drivers are asked to please move carefully as workers will likely be using flags to direct traffic.
Phase 1 of the Red Line is an element of the Marion County Transit Plan that will increase local transit service by 70%. Stretching 13 miles from Broad Ripple to the University of Indianapolis, the Red Line will serve as the frequent spine of the improved and reliable grid network.
