Indy Partnership Launches Regional Economic Development Dashboard

(INDIANAPOLIS) – This week the Indy Partnership, a business unit of the Indy Chamber, announced the launch of a new economic development dashboard aimed at highlighting the successes and opportunities of the 9-county Indianapolis region. Stats.IndyChamber.com consists of two journeys: one a more straightforward dashboard with interactive graphs and economic trends, and the other a storybook platform with a content-rich environment to display data and narrative.

“Many communities offer a dashboard to show the overall health of their region,” notes Indy Chamber Chief Economic Development Officer Maureen Krauss. “While we present these statistics in an easy-to-navigate format, we simply weren’t satisfied with the numbers alone. Numbers tell a story, and our hope with this new platform is to present that story in a more compelling way. These stories also help us understand and respond to the challenges we face as a region and showcase the successes we’ve achieved.”

To design this one-of-a-kind platform, the Indy Partnership enlisted the help of locally based software developer Counterpart. Starting from the ground up, Counterpart worked with the Indy Partnership to outline a vision for the tool and develop a final product with the end user in mind.

“Counterpart jumped at the chance to work on this amazing project,” said Counterpart Chief Strategy Officer Drew Linn. “As a regular participant in the Indy Chamber’s Leadership Exchange delegation each year, I began to notice a recurring theme in our discussions: our region needs a place to point to and say ‘this is where we measure up’ on any given day.  I believe this dashboard more than achieves that goal.”

One of the more important features of Stats.IndyChamber.com is live data feeds from the Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC), a unit in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. The IBRC maintains databases on numerous topics such as income, employment, taxes, sectors of the economy, education, demographics and a host of other economic indicators for the nation, the state and local areas.

Stats.IndyChamber.com is a deliverable of the Indy Chamber’s Accelerate Indy regional economic development strategy, aimed at moving the community forward through initiatives in talent development, entrepreneurship, advocacy and more.
