An IMPD Officer is seriously injured following an accident on Indianapolis’ west side

INDIANAPOLIS –On Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 3:21 p.m., accident investigators with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the 2100 Block of Country Club Rd. on a report of an accident involving an IMPD Officer.

Responding Officers located an unresponsive middle shift North West Officer and an unresponsive private citizen in the intersection of 21st Street and Country Club Road.

A witness observed an IMPD vehicle approach the intersection of 21st Street and Country Club Road with activated red and blue over head lights, and activated sirens. The Officer cleared each lane of the intersection before being struck by another vehicle.

The officer and the driver of the striking vehicle were transported to Methodist Hospital where they are receiving medical care. The IMPD Officer’s condition is stable but guarded.

She will remain at Methodist Hospital this evening until her condition improves. The private citizen’s dog was killed as a result of the collision.
