INDIANAPOLIS (April 18, 2016) – The individual income tax filing season closes today, April 18, 2016.
Recent Indiana Department of Revenue news releases provide pertinent tax season information, including:
- How to extend your time to file or pay what you owe;
- How to protect your identity;
- How to check the status of your refund; and
- How to electronically file your tax return for free.
Contact the Department with Questions Taxpayers with questions can contact the department at 317-232-2240. Phone lines are open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for holidays. Spanish-speaking representatives are available. The department has 12 district offices across Indiana where taxpayers can ask individual income tax questions, pay tax bills and submit paper tax returns. Appointments are not necessary. Taxpayers also can submit general questions through the department’s Facebook or Twitter pages. Taxpayers should never send personal information, such as a Social Security number, through social media.
Wait times may be longer due to increased phone and walk-in center traffic.
