IMPD homicide detectives investigating after person found shot to death on Indianapolis’ west side Wednesday

IMPDINDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives are investigating a homicide on the city’s west side after officers respond to reports of a person shot.

Just after 5 p.m. on 07/20/2016, IMPD officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Tara lane, on reports of a person shot. Officers arrived to find a 21-year-old male, unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim dead on-scene.

IMPD homicide detectives quickly responded and immediately began gathering information from witnesses in an effort to ascertain the circumstances around the shooting and to develop suspect information.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to process the crime scene and collect possible forensic evidence. The victim’s name will be released once the next of kin has been notified. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS. Information obtained through Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
