I-70 westbound at U.S. 231 will close for two nights beginning Tuesday next week

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces I-70 westbound will close at U.S. 231 (Exit 41) beginning on Tuesday, September 22 and continuing on Wednesday, September 23 from 11 p.m. through 5 a.m each night. Traffic will be diverted down the off ramp, across U.S. 231, and back up the on ramp for I-70 westbound. The traffic signal at the interchange will be operated manually by a signal technician to keep traffic flowing.  The purpose for this closure is for the contractor to tie in new pavement.

This project was awarded to Force Construction Co. for $6.6 million. The I-70 Bridges over U.S. 231 at Exit 41 will be rebuilt.  Construction is expected to be completed by late fall of next year.

INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
