INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives arrest a 36-year-old woman after she is alleged to have shot and killed her ex-husband.
On 10/15/16 at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were sent to the 7200 block of East 13th St. reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS/Fire personnel reached the scene and pronounced the male dead at the scene. The victim has been identified, but at this time his name will not be released pending notification of additional family members.
When homicide detectives arrived, they quickly determined that victim’s ex-wife was involved and was the likely lone suspect shooter. Detectives detained and transported the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Brittany Martin of Indianapolis, to IMPD Headquarters for questioning. After being questioned by detectives the suspect was eventually arrested on a preliminary charge of Murder, and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for processing. Currently, the suspect only has a previous unrelated booking photo which is attached. Detectives will review their investigative and evidentiary findings with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.
It is believed that the couple’s relationship may have experienced domestic abuse.
