Plainfield, IN – April 18, 2017 – Hilton, a multinational hotel and resort chain, broke ground this past Tuesday in Plainfield for a new hotel located near the Indianapolis International Airport. The new suite-hotel/convention center will house 175 rooms and is estimated to be finished by spring 2018.
Josh Duke, of Visit Hendricks County says that the organization has been using it’s “head’s in beds” tax to purchase a property close to the airport at the Plainfield exit for I-70 for quite some time.
The property, located at 6089 Clarks Road, is owned and managed by Sun Development and Management Corporation, who is a hotel development corporation based in Indianapolis. The corporation has hotels in 12 states. The manager of Sun Development, Bharat Patel, said the groundbreaking marks Sun’s sixth Embassy Suites hotel and is “pleased” to continue their development in Indiana. Currently, Sun development also has another hotel under construction in Noblesville, IN.
The Indianapolis International Airport has close to 8 million travelers a year and Patel believes the new Embassy Suites hotel “will serve both business and leisure travelers’ need for a full service, upscale hotel that offers spacious accommodations, value-added amenities and our signature outstanding guest service.”
The convention space will be nearly 26,000 square feet in size and have meeting and functional space which can accommodate 2,000 attendees for a variety of events.
