*UPDATE* The driver of the vehicle, 17 year old Taylor Parsons of Indianapolis, has died as a result of injuries sustained in the roll-over crash on I-70 near Harding Street. The crash is still under investigation and there is no further information to release at this time.

Original Release Below:

Indianapolis, IN – A high speed roll-over crash on I-70 ejected all five occupants killing one and seriously injuring the four others.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. emergency crews were called to a serious crash on I-70 eastbound near Harding Street. Upon arrival, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found five people seriously injured and laying in the grass along I-70. IMPD and the Indianapolis Fire Department began treating the injured as more emergency crews were summoned to the scene to assist. 18 year old Brandon Gross of Indianapolis was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to Eskenazi Hospital in very critical condition. The other two were transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

After preliminary investigation, police believe the silver 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling at a very high rate of speed in the far left lane. At the last second, the vehicle made a maneuver across all three lanes in what appears to be an attempt to exit at Harding Street. The vehicle slid out of control into the grass and rolled several times. None of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash causing them to be ejected.

Police are looking into the possibility of an incident involving another vehicle, which was allegedly chasing the Pathfinder after an incident at an area park. Anyone with information about this crash or the incident at the park is asked to call the Indiana State Police at 317-899-8577.

Pursuant to Indiana Law, the driver of the vehicle will be tested for intoxication. The results of those tests are pending. The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Indianapolis Fire Department, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Investigating Officer: Trooper Chris Waltz, Indiana State Police
