Shelby County – Today at approximately 1:10 am the Indiana State Police, along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, responded to reports of a single vehicle roll over crash on I-65 near the 81 mile marker. When police arrived they found a male standing outside the truck in the ditch and a female seated in the driver’s seat. Both subjects appeared to have injuries but were conscious and alert, telling police they did not want an ambulance. The Shelbyville Fire Department and the Flat Rock Volunteer Fire Department had already been called and were on the way. When medics arrived they placed both occupants in the back of the ambulance to examine for injuries. The driver of the 2000 GMC Sonoma was identified as 28 year old Alyssa Caudill of Columbus Indiana, and the passenger was 29 year old Devin Streeval from Edinburgh Indiana. While speaking with the medics both Streeval and Caudill continued to deny medical assistance and wanted to sign medical release forms to avoid transportation to the hospital. While in the ambulance Streeval began having a seizure, he was immediately transported to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis along with Caudill for further examination. At approximately 3:15 a.m. Devin Streeval and was pronounced deceased by doctors.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time. As with any fatal crash, a blood draw will be conducted to determine if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. At this time it is undetermined if Mr. Streeval died as a result of injuries from the crash, or if there was a pre-existing medical condition that may have contributed. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning at the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
