Early Morning Crash Claims One Life on I-70

ISP SmallIndianapolis – Shortly after 2:00 Sunday morning police and emergency crews responded to a serious single vehicle crash on I-70 westbound on the ramp to Six Points Road northbound. Upon arrival, responders discovered a Green 2001 Honda Civic had rolled several times and both occupants were ejected. A male occupant, 21 year old Leandro Villa of Indianapolis, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female occupant, 39 year old Marie Sanchez of Indianapolis, was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in this crash and the green Honda failed to safely navigate the curve in the ramp causing it to leave the roadway and roll over. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt resulting in both being thrown from the vehicle. The ramp was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage was removed.

Due to both occupants being ejected, investigators have not yet determined who was driving at the time of the crash.
