Carlisle Woman Arrested for Sexual Misconduct with Minor

Sullivan County – Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on September 9, 2020, after receiving information from the Sullivan County Department of Child Services concerning allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor. 

The investigation revealed that Heather N. Cottom, age 33, of Carlisle, IN, had allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor under the age of 16.  This allegation took place in Sullivan County.

After reviewing the investigation, the Sullivan County Prosecutor, Ann Mischler, asked for a warrant to be issued for Cottom’s arrest. A warrant was issued by Sullivan Circuit Court on October 2, 2020.  Cottom was arrested on the active warrant by Master Trooper Detective Angie Hahn.  She was taken into custody and transported to the Sullivan County Jail without incident.

Assisting Agencies:  Carlisle Town Marshall, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, Sara Bedwell of the Sullivan County Department of Child Service.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
