Speeding Driver Arrested in Putnam County for Suspected Methamphetamine

Putnam County—Last night at 6:50, Indiana State Police Trooper David Cox Jr. was patrolling southbound on US 231 near County Road 700 South, when he radar clocked a northbound blue Honda passenger car at 69 miles-per-hour in a 55mph zone. 

A traffic stop was initiated and during conversations with the driver, Trooper Cox noticed several indicators of possible criminal activity. Trooper Ian Portteus and K-9 “Czar” were summoned to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. A positive indication for illegal drugs in or around the vehicle was given by “Czar”. A search of the vehicle yielded a syringe with suspected methamphetamine inside the glove box and assorted drug paraphernalia. Inside the driver’s pants pockets and wallet were approximately 5.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine. 

Arrested:         Aaron D. Lydle, age 25, of North Salem, IN.

                        Jailed in Putnam County 

Charges:          Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Syringe, and Possession of Paraphernalia
