INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Robbery detectives arrested two suspects after an alleged attempted robbery at an east side gas station.
On Sunday, April 10, at approximately 10:01 a.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the Circle K gas station in the 6700 block of East Washington Street on a welfare check. The 911 caller indicated the front doors of the gas station were locked and nobody seemed to be inside of the normally open business. Upon arrival, officers believed the business was being robbed by two suspects with two employees and two customers still inside.
Due to the dangers involved in the situation, the IMPD SWAT Team was responded to the scene. Upon seeing the business surrounded by police officers, 33-year-old Jason Walker and 30-year-old Lester Williams voluntarily surrendered and were taken into custody without incident. The two employees and two customers inside the business were unharmed.
Both suspects were arrested for Robbery and Criminal Confinement. Officers located a loaded handgun inside of the business that was believed to be used by one of the suspects. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the facts of the case to determine a charging decision.
