INDIANAPOLIS – On February 20, 2019,
Detectives with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested
45-year-old Mary Barger for multiple drug and weapons offenses.
On Wednesday February 20, 2019, Criminal Interdiction Section (CIS) Detectives
conducted a narcotic investigation in the 1800 block of E. Sumner Avenue.
Officers had received several narcotic complaints on this location. While
officers were at the residence they observed several weapons and narcotics in
the residence.
Detectives were granted a warrant for the residence where they recovered
narcotics and weapons specifically:
- 2 long guns
- 6 pistols
- ½ pound of methamphetamine
- several ounces of both powdered and crack cocaine
- over 300 scheduled narcotic pills
- several grams of heroin
- 2 ounces of marijuana
- $1,672.00
While Detectives were searching they located a complete claymore mine kit (charge, firing wire with initiator, and fire control unit). Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD) responded and took possession of the claymore and a live military issue smoke grenade.
Mary Barger was charged with dealing and possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin.
IMPD continues to crack down on the illegal possession of firearms as part of the City’s violence reduction strategy.
