STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2018) – State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) was recently selected to chair the K-12 Subcommittee of House Ways and Means, which focuses on funding education, Indiana’s largest budget item.
“This budget session, we will continue strengthening our commitment to students and teachers,” Thompson said. “Our goals include improving upon Indiana’s already strong school safety policies. With more than half of the entire state budget going toward K-12 education, this subcommittee is important because we help provide specific input on funding for Hoosier schools to the full Ways and Means Committee.”
Thompson was also reappointed to the House Education Committee and the House Elections and Apportionment Committee.
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan 3 in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.
