Brownsburg, IN – WYRZ,
a Hendricks County nonprofit radio station, and Hendricks Power Cooperative, a
local utility provider, have announced their partnership to bring energy
education to the listeners of the local radio station. Hendricks
Power Cooperative recently donated $1,500 to the Hendricks County Educational
Media Corporation, the parent company of WYRZ. The corporation also received a
matching grant through CoBank’s Sharing Success program.
These funds will go towards a series of energy efficiency & electrical
safety public service announcements (PSAs) that will be aired on 98.9FM WYRZ 7
days a week over the next 12 months.
“Working in the utility industry, we fully understand the potential dangers
that can be involved with electricity,” said Dana Cochran, Director of
Marketing & Member Engagement for Hendricks Power. “Our hope is that these
PSAs will educate our community and decrease the likelihood of electrical
accidents or injuries.”
“This is an exciting project for our new intern Joshua Clark. He has done the work to put these helpful tips together. It was his first big assignment with us as he voiced and produced them for airplay,” says WYRZ’s Executive Director Shane Ray. Joshua Clark is a Senior at Brownsburg High School and interns at WYRZ after school to gain hands-on experience of radio.
