Visit Hendricks County Releases Community Video Featuring Locals During National Travel & Tourism Week

DANVILLE, IN (May 6, 2020) –Visit Hendricks County has joined its local partners to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week by shining a light on what travel means to our community through a new video.

To show our gratitude to the people who both support and depend on travel and tourism in Hendricks County, we featured some of them expressing their love, passion and dedication for their business and community by sharing who they are.

“This video showcases the community investment made by the people who make up our travel and tourism businesses in Hendricks County.” said Jaime Bohler Smith, Visit Hendricks County’s Executive Director. “Those businesses are the places we think of as local favorites, the things we want to share with our family and friends and the events and venues that allow us to belong and have a sense of place that everyone can enjoy.”

The video continues Visit Hendricks County’s mission to support more than just visitors. The All In, Hendricks County campaign launched back in March when this pandemic began has supported local businesses, raised funds for non-profits serving on the front lines and provided resources that included a list of restaurants offering carry-out, at-home activities, a place to find local jobs and so much more. The All In campaign is shifting into Phase II, and Visit Hendricks County will update the site with more information on what’s open and where you can go to exercise, dine and gather appropriately and safely.

Tourism spurs economic development, and during the current crisis, the money brought in from this industry will serve as a catalyst for recovery for our towns and our state. Nearly 4,000 people are employed by the Hendricks County hospitality industry, and the visitors who came to town spent more than $274 million in our local businesses in 2018, which is the most recent year data is available.
