Trooper Wade Heiny Promoted to Detective

Indianapolis, IN – Superintendent Douglas Carter has announced the promotion of Trooper Wade Heiny to the position of detective. Heiny will serve as an investigator for the Indianapolis District, which covers Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Boone, Hendricks, Johnson and Shelby Counties.

Trooper Heiny is a native of Gas City Indiana and a 2005 graduate of Mississinewa High School. Wade went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wabash College. After college he worked as a Care Coordinator for Midtown Community Health. In 2012 Heiny was accepted into the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and he graduated in December of 2012. His first assignment was to the Indianapolis District where he patrolled on afternoon shift in Marion and Hancock Counties for more than five years. During his career Trooper Heiny has been a member of the Honor Guard, a field training officer and a certified meth lab technician.

In his new position, Heiny will handle criminal investigations, interviewing suspects, processing crime scenes and  assisting other agencies as needed.
