Terre Haute, IN – Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at approximately 11:29 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Eric Smith observed a vehicle that was traveling above the posted speed limit in the north bound lanes of US 41 near 56th Drive. Trooper Smith activated his radar which indicated that the vehicle was traveling 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. The vehicle in question was a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. Trooper Smith then stopped the vehicle near US 41 and 7th Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Christian E. Targett, 22, of Terre Haute, IN. During the course of the traffic stop, Trooper Smith observed criminal indicators and a small plastic bag containing blue pills sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Trooper Smith then conducted a vehicle search, discovering 24 blue, oval-shaped pills with XANAX inscribed on the back. During the investigation it was discovered that Targett did not have a valid prescription to possess the XANAX, which is a controlled substance. Targett, was taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Jail

- Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance Level 6 Felony
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance Level 6 Felony
- Driving While Suspended Prior Class A Misdemeanor
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
