Three Women Arrested after Police Chase on I-70; Wanted out of Georgia

Greenfield, IN – Three adult females who were wanted on felony warrants in the state of Georgia allegedly took to social media to taunt law enforcement by saying “Do your job [expletive]” Sunday February 24th that is exactly what Trooper Christopher Walts did, he did his job by putting these fugitives in jail after a short police chase.

Early yesterday, just after 6:00 p.m. Tpr. Waltz was patrolling I-70 in Hancock County, about 15 miles east of Indianapolis, when he spotted a white Nissan Sentra allegedly travelling at an excessive speed. As he pulled in behind the Nissan, but before activating his emergency lights, Waltz stated the driver of the Nissan made an abrupt lane change from an exit only lane, back onto the interstate. Trooper Waltz turned on his emergency lights and the driver of the Nissan failed to stop, leading Tpr. Waltz on a pursuit that entered Henry County and resulted in other police agencies coming to the assistance of Tpr. Waltz.  With the assistance of deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Shirley Police Department, the Nissan was brought to a controlled stop on I-70 near the 120 mile marker.  All three occupants were taken into police custody and transported to the Hancock County Jail.

Pursuant to the arrest the vehicle was impounded. During an inventory of the Nissan, which was a rental car, troopers located a substantial amount of credit cards, check books, social security cards and identification cards belonging to people not in the vehicle and was later determined to be stolen property. The occupants of the vehicle each had several felony warrants from Covington Georgia related to a string of thefts in that area.

As the criminal investigation continued it was determined that on January 23rd, 2019 the Covington Georgia Police Department issued a ‘Be On the Lookout’ (BOLO) alert that included surveillance photos and identifying information for each of the females. Earlier this month a local media station in Georgia aired a story about the suspects and their use of social media to brag about their crimes as well as to taunt the police who were searching for them.

The Hancock County Prosecutor will now review the case to determine charges related to this incident. Aside from local pending charges in Indiana, it is anticipated all three women will eventually be extradited back to Georgia to face outstanding criminal allegations.

An arrest is merely an accusation, all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in the court of law.
