Steuerwald recognizes Elaina Gibbs with Hometown Hero Award

Hoosiers are hardworking people who generously give their time to make their communities great places to live and raise a family. To recognize these individuals in House District 40, Steuerwald established a Hometown Hero award to shine a light on those whose selfless acts make our communities and state the best place to live and work.

State Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) (right) presents Central Elementary School teacher Elaina Gibbs (left) with a Hometown Hero award on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the school in Plainfield. Gibbs is a fourth grade teacher and leads the school’s robotics club. She’s also a member and camp counselor at Plainfield Christian Church. Steuerwald said Gibbs was nominated for his award for creating a joyful learning environment and inspiring curiosity and confidence in her students.

If you know someone like that – a neighbor, friend or co-worker who is always helping others – please nominate them for a Hometown Hero award. Recipients will receive an award certificate and be highlighted in Steuerwald’s email newsletter.

Nominees must reside in House District 40. Click here to verify which district they live in. Contact Steuerwald’s office at h40@iga.in.gov or 317-234-3827 for any questions.
