State Police Investigating Single Vehicle Fatal Crash

Indianapolis, IN – Saturday morning, around 5:08, emergency crews were called to the area of I-70 eastbound near Shadeland for reports of a serious crash. An Officer from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was first on scene and discovered a single vehicle crash with one occupant ejected. The victim was unresponsive and despite life saving efforts was later pronounced deceased on the scene by paramedics. 

State Police investigators believe the vehicle was on the collector from I-70 eastbound to Shadeland and I-465 when the driver made a sudden lane change and lost control. The vehicle rolled several times ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to recover the remains of the deceased. The identification of the victim is being withheld at this time to allow for notification to family members.  This investigation is ongoing, I-70 eastbound was closed for nearly two hours while the crash was investigated, it has since reopened.
