Senior Trooper Corey Berfield Promoted to Sergeant

Indianapolis, IN – Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has announced the promotion of Senior Trooper Corey Berfield to the position of Sergeant to serve as the Department’s Records Management System Coordinator.

Corey was born in Williamsport Pennsylvania but moved to central Indiana in 1994. He is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence North High School and a 2005 graduate of Indiana State University where he majored in Arts and Sciences. Berfield finished the 67th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in July of 2007 and was assigned to the Pendleton District where he patrolled Hamilton County. During his career Corey has been an instrumental part of the State Police Honor Guard and has been the central team leader since 2015. He is also a Field Training Officer and a Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) Instructor. 

In his new position Sergeant Berfield will coordinate and manage the Department’s Record Management System (RMS). He will work within the Criminal Justice Data Division to implement and maintain designated statistical and data analytic reports as well as develop solutions to designated department specific crime statistic requests and concerns. Division Commander Major Mike White said, “Sergeant Berfield has proven himself to be a leader with a very strong work ethic. We are grateful to have him in our division and look forward to working with him.”

Sergeant Berfield resides in Indianapolis with his wife and two children.
