Rokita Praises DOJ’s Sanctuary City Decision

DANVILLE, IN — Following the news today that the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice is putting 23 jurisdictions on notice for their dangerous sanctuary city policies, Congressman Todd Rokita released the following statement: 

“President Trump and the Administration are putting Americans first and standing up for the rule of law,” said Congressman Todd Rokita. “Dangerous sanctuary cities need to be put on notice, and I’m proud to be working with the Administration and fighting for legislation to impose even tougher penalties for lawless politicians who ignore federal immigration laws.” 

Recently, Congressman Todd Rokita praised President Donald Trump’s Acting-ICE Director Thomas Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen for urging the Department of Justice to treat sanctuary city officials as criminals for ignoring federal immigration laws. 

In December, Congressman Todd Rokita introduced the SLAP ACT (Stopping Lawless Actions of Politicians) which would establish penalties for sanctuary city politicians who ignore federal immigration enforcement.

Congressman Rokita has been a vocal and active supporter of Kate’s Law that would defund sanctuary cities.
