Plainfield Police seek publics help in identifying suspect in road rage shooting

PLAINFIELD- On Wednesday, 03-01-23 at approximately 2:12 AM, the Avon Police Department responded to a residence in Avon in reference to a person shot. Information led officers to believe the shooting incident took place around 100 S. and 900 E. (Smith Road). Lead information obtained by Avon officers and detectives at that location indicated the incident occurred within the Plainfield Police Department jurisdiction. Plainfield Police detectives were then notified and responded to the scene. This investigation has been ongoing.

Investigators received information the incident began with a disagreement between two separate vehicles, a small white cargo/delivery van and a blue passenger car. During the incident, an adult pregnant female passenger, Julianna M. Martinez (20, of Avon IN) seated in the front passenger seat, was the victim of one gunshot that came from the driver’s side of the small white cargo van. The victim’s vehicle then proceeded to the Solidago residence where first aid was performed by the driver of the vehicle and bystanders until medics arrived. The victim was then transported to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment. The mother and newborn child were listed in stable condition and the mother has since been released from the hospital.

The suspect vehicle was described as a small white cargo van with no markings and having dark tinted back windows. The suspect driver was described as a black male possibly having a large tattoo on his left arm.
