Plainfield Middle School among nearly 70 schools recognized by ASCA as model programs.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced today nearly 70 schools including Plainfield Middle Schoole were recognized by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) as model programs. Indiana surpassed the record number of schools for one state in a given year receiving the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation with 69 schools receiving this honor.

“I commend our Indiana schools for receiving this designation and for leading the nation in the number of RAMP designated schools,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. “Receiving the RAMP designation evidences the importance of school counselor leadership which is foundational for students to be academically, socially, and emotionally successful.”

RAMP designation, awarded for aligning with the criteria in the ASCA National Model, recognizes schools committed to delivering an exemplary comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program. Since the program’s inception, more than 800 schools across the United States have been designated as RAMP recipients. This year, 140 schools nationwide will receive the RAMP designation.

Schools were recently honored during ASCA’s annual conference in Los Angeles, California.
