Hancock County, IN – A man is under arrest tonight after being accused of stealing several vials of Fentanyl while employed a a Paramedic.
May 30, 2018 the Indiana State Police were requested to investigate the allegations of theft from the Greenwood City Fire Department. It was determined this crime potentially spanned several jurisdictions which led local authorities to relinquish the investigation to the state police. During the course of this investigation detectives found that at least 34 vials of Fentanyl were allegedly taken from various fire departments in five counties, including Hancock County. The accused person, 41 year old Jason Howard of Fishers, was an employee for SEALS Ambulance Service. The thefts are believed to have began in early 2018, an internal audit discovered the missing narcotics in May of this year.
Earlier today, upon review of the probable cause affidavit, the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office filed criminal charges and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued. Detectives from the Indiana State Police served the arrest warrant this afternoon and Jason Howard was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Hancock County Jail on charges of two counts of Possession of Narcotics (Level 6 Felony) and two counts of theft (Class A Misdemeanor).
All suspects named in this release are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
