Now Accepting Applications for Indiana Tourism’s Destination Development Grant Program

INDIANAPOLIS (September 6, 2018) –Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) announced today that the application period for its Destination Development Grant program is now open.

Crouch said that cities, towns, counties and nonprofit entities located in Indiana that are involved with tourism promotion and development are eligible to apply for the grant. These grants can boost communities and regions across the state.”

In March, IOTD awarded $470,000 in matching grants to two different entities in the state. The Indiana Railway Museum was awarded $250,000 to restore and refurbish two historic first class passenger train cars. The City of Jeffersonville was awarded $220,000 for the development of its Arts and Cultural District.

“Like the Indiana Railway Museum and Jeffersonville grants, most of the projects benefit and enhance the experience of both visitors and residents alike,” Crouch said. “As destinations continue to grow, they need more resources to build new amenities and bolster existing ones. This grant program is designed to support projects that are aspirational and visionary – big projects that will have a big impact on the course of a community.”

Grant requests of between $50,000 and $250,000 will be considered through this competitive application process. Entities that have previously received a Destination Development Grant may not apply for additional Destination Development funds for a two-year period from the date of their last award.

The deadline for applications is December 3, 2018 by 4 p.m. ET. Finalists will be announced on February 1, 2019. An announcement of the award recipients will be made on March 11, 2019.
